Deniz and his cousin Ela were in Izmir for the weekend. On Sunday they wanted to take the ferry from Konak to Karşıyaka. They had two tickets, but when they arrived at the pier, Deniz could not find his ticket. "I put it in my jacket pocket," he said. He looked in his bag, his pockets and his shoes. Nothing! Ela laughed. "Don't worry. We can buy another one." But the ticket office was closed. A kind man at the pier listened to their problem. He smiled and said, "Look at your phone case." Deniz opened it, and there was the ticket, behind his phone! The ferry arrived a minute later, and the two cousins ran on board happily.

1. What could Deniz not find at the pier?

2. Why could they not buy another ticket?

3. Who gave Deniz the idea?

4. Where was the ticket?

Honey bees work very hard. A bee flies from flower to flower and drinks a sweet liquid called nectar. It carries the nectar in a special part of its body and brings it back to the hive. In the hive, other bees take the nectar and move it from mouth to mouth. Then they put it into small wax rooms. The nectar has a lot of water in it, so the bees fan it with their wings. The water goes away and the nectar becomes thick. This is honey. Bees make honey for food, especially for the winter, when there are no flowers. One bee makes less than one small spoon of honey in its whole life, so a jar of honey needs the work of many bees.

1. What do bees drink from flowers?

2. Why do the bees fan the nectar with their wings?

3. When do bees need honey most?

4. How much honey does one bee make in its life?

Subject: Our trip on Thursday Dear Mert, I hope you are better now. Don't worry about school. I'll tell you about next week. Our class is going to visit the Science Museum on Thursday. We have to meet at school at eight o'clock because the bus leaves at half past eight. You must bring a packed lunch and a bottle of water. Miss Kaya says that you don't have to bring any money, because the museum is free for school groups. You can wear your own clothes, but you must wear comfortable shoes. We are going to walk a lot. Please text me if you need anything. I hope you can come! Best wishes, Selin
